Tom Allen Named Eastern's MVP for 2009
Eastern Freight Ways is pleased to announce that Tom Allen has been named the Most Valuable Player for 2009. Tom joined the Eastern team in 2000 as a driver manager. In late 2008, he took over the role of capacity manager and in 2009 lead Eastern to one of its best operational performances in recent years. Tom's ability to plan and coordinate the Eastern driver work force helped to provide excellent service to our customers. Raising the level of service and driving down cost through increased efficiencies, Tom helped Eastern to grow its revenue by almost 8% in a very difficult economic climate.
Eastern Freightways is a member of The Shevell Group of Companies (www.ShevellGroup.com), which also includes NEMF (LTL carrier serving its customers from terminals throughout the Northeast and Midwest, as well as Puerto Rico and Canada), Carrier Industries (third-party logistics, dedicated fleet, warehousing), Apex Logistics (brokerage, nationwide truckload) and NEMF World Transport (non-vessel operating common carrier).
Eastern Welcomes Mitch Bookbinder Director Sales and Marketing (February 2010)
Mitch Bookbinder will be rejoining Eastern Freightways on February 15th as Director of Sales and Marketing.
Mitch spent the late 1990s with Eastern and was the General Manager for more than 3 years. His responsibilities will include: external and internal sales, van sales, Apex brokerage development and he will be working closely with Eastern's Recruiting Department.
Mitch resides in Springfield, NJ with his wife, Nancy, and has two grown children, Melissa and Pam. For those trivia buffs, Mitch appeared on the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
